Program Coordinator: Cathy Ribaudo
Cathy Ribaudo has been the Parent Volunteer to the Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD) Figure Skating Team ever since her daughter Corinne joined the team as an athlete in 2010. She’s not a very good figure skater herself, so she stays on the sidelines and organizes the attendance book to track SSL hours for the coaches and lessons for the skaters. She also keeps track of everyone’s paperwork and tells people when they need to resubmit their forms for triennial renewal. Cathy is also the team’s liaison for the two annual skating competitions in PA and MD and takes care of arranging the travel and registration details. Finally, she is the point of contact for newcomers - whether it’s volunteer coaches, prospective athletes, or parents - to find out how to join our group. Cathy lives in Rockville with her husband Randy and their three teenagers, with their first-born already through college. She serves as Radiation Safety Officer for the NIH in Bethesda as her full-time job, but keeps her Saturday mornings reserved for the SOMD Figure Skating Team.
